If you're logging in during these last few days, don't treat it like another quiet reset week. April 28, 2026 is the line in the sand, and the jump from Season of Slaughter into the Lord of Hatred expansion is going to feel rough if your account is a mess. Skovos Isles, Mephisto, new classes, new loot rules, all of it sounds brilliant, but it also means prep matters. Sort your Diablo 4 Items now, clear the junk, and give yourself room to breathe before everyone starts sprinting through the Amazon homeland.

Get the last seasonal rewards done

The first thing I'd knock out is the Abattoir of Zir. Not later. Not “maybe on launch morning.” The Slaughterhouse is closing when the expansion arrives, and once it's gone, those rewards are gone with it. Clean up old progress before Skovos opens

Renown is boring until you're missing the points. If you still have unfinished regions, Altars, or side objectives, do them now while there's no new island pulling your attention away. You keep those account-wide Skill and Paragon bonuses, and they matter more than people like to admit. Skovos will have its own Renown grind, so don't show up carrying old chores from Scosglen, Hawezar, or Dry Steppes. That kind of backlog kills the mood fast. Nobody wants to leave volcanic beaches and new dungeons just to click an old statue they ignored for six months.

Use your final caches smartly

One small launch trick is worth doing if you've got the patience. In the last day, finish Grim Favors but don't rush to open every reward. Hold the Tree of Whispers caches until you're into the new level brackets, then crack them when the gear actually matters. It's a simple way to get early materials, quick upgrades, and a smoother push into tougher content.
